Patrón Saint San Agustin of Fuente Alamo - 18th-28th August

Various activities daily and by night lots of entertainment in the streets and bars of Fuente Alamo. The town closes the main streets to traffic during the fiesta and there are funfairs and events for all the family to enjoy.

The majestic Roman Theatre in Cartagena opens its doors to those wishing to partake in a relaxing and exclusive visit by the light of the moon plus special effects. The tour begins at 9pm and lasts for approx. 1 hour. The dates in August are 5th & 26th. Tour groups are a maximum of 25 people. Sounds of the Sea
Join an Evening Cruise With Music during August and September around Cartagena Port. Tickets cost €12 pp and leaves from the Escala Real del Puerto in the Marina at 9pm lasting approx 1hr. Book your tickets at or from any of the Cartagena Puerto de Culturas Museums.

Festival del Cante de las Minas - 2nd-12th August
This fiesta is now in its 57th year and it holds an International Flamenco Contest recognised by UNESCO. Originally a singing contest, the festival has now expanded over the years to include competitive guitar sections as well as dance. The event celebrates the world of flamenco and commemorates the mining songs developed in the nineteenth century. This year artists include: Lole Montoya, Rocío Márquez, Paco Montalvo, Manuela Carrasco, Paco Montalvo, Argentina and the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia.

The Golden Castilletes will be presented this year to the bullfighting journalist, José Castillo Abreu, Juan Antonio Campillo Paredes and the Principality of Asturias for his mining past. The Cante Cathedral Prize, which commemorates those nations that have worked the most for flamenco, will be for Belgium this year because it has organised several successful Flamenco Festivals.

International Youth Day - 12th August
There will be music, funfairs, magic acts, theatre shows, cinema, Zumba etc. for all the youth in the area to participate in around the town hall area of Los Alcazares.

Air Base Visits – 26th August
There will be free guided visits to the air base in Los Alcazares starting at 10am and will last approx. 2 hours. The programme will be both in Spanish and English.

You must register in advance and provide your passport details as well as your date of birth. You must also bring your passport with you to the visit. Register via the Tourist Office.
