Sunday 4th December - the traditional local Artisan Market "El Zacatín" will be held in the streets of Plazas Vieja and Del Castillo, between 9am and 2pm. Expect to indulge in sweet treats typical of the season, choose gifts from quality craft goods and buy wine direct from local bodegas or the wine museum shop.

In tandem with the market, why not take advantage of a Free Guided Tour taking in the history and architecture of Bullas, including the Casa-Museo Don Pepe Marsilla and Torre del Reloj. Tickets from the Tourist Information point set up in the market place 15 minutes before each departure: 11am/12pm/1pm. Confirm times with the tourist office (tours are in Spanish but the guide may speak some English).

Saturday 10th December – Solidarity Paper Lanterns 7pm at Plaza de Templete. Money goes to disadvantaged families in Caravaca.

Sunday 18th December – a Free 1.5 Hour Tour of this Holy City starting in front of the Castle and Basilica at 11.15am (in Spanish). The route winds down through the medieval quarter, accompanied with leaflets in English and info boards in Spanish and English. Pre-book at The Tourist Office. Wear comfy shoes for the 15-minute walk up to the castle to start the tour.

Sunday 18th December - hunt for a bargain at the Car Boot Sale in the park Ginés de Paco at the bottom of Gran Via. The town hall no longer provides stalls – 1€ per metre – to book a site, contact the Tourist Office.

The Archaeological See of Begastri is opened for tours on Saturdays and Sundays at 10.10am/11.15am/12.20pm. 2€ pp. The tour begins with a video presentation followed by a guided tour to see the remains of the Iberian culture before the IV century B.C. The guided tour in English will be on demand.

The Eco Park (Tourism Activity Park) 'Coto de las Maravillas' is action-packed for all the family with a choice of paintballing, horse riding, an assault course, a Quidditch pitch as well as many others activities for all ages. There is also a campsite within the park and refreshments are available in the bar. The park is open throughout each weekend. For entry at other time please telephone 691 200 353

Sunday 25th December – a Free Family Nature Walk takes you to Los Ceperos. The 5km walk is designed for all ages and takes 3 hours. The meeting point is Explanada Centro Tecnológico del Mármol close to the motorway west exit at 9am. From there, you will drive in your own car to the start of the walk. Maximum 2 children under 14 years of age accompanied per adult. Bring own drinks and snacks; the tour is in Spanish.

Sunday 11th December – combine a visit to the monthly Artisan Market, the Mercadillo de los 4 Plazas, with a Free Guided Tour of the old quarter (Casco Antiguo) of Mula. The tour is in Spanish but leaflets in English are available from the tourist office. Start 11.30am From Tourist Office in the Convento de San Francisco.

Thursday 1st December - an enticing Music-Fest in the city:
8pm the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia heralds the Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra (OSRM) and the Camerata de Murcia, conducted by Dirk Vermeulen as they perform Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony and pieces by Richard Strauss and Martinu. Tickets 12€/16€/20€.

8.30pm at the Cathedral of Murcia sees the last of 5 Free Organ Recitals featuring a performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass by the Coral Discantus Choir, accompanied on the organ by Carlos Rafael Pérez. Pay special attention to the magnificent Merklin-Schütze first symphonic organ in Spain, which was first heard in the Cathedral in July 1857 and restored between 2005 and 2008.

9pm at the Teatro Circo comes alive with a blast when Ariel Rot take to the stage, fronted by the rock and pop musician, Ariel Rotenburg Gutkin, showcasing the latest album, La Manada. Tickets 15€/18€/20€.
Saturday 10th – Enjoy a Free Guided Tour of the historical centre of the city - 10.30am from Tourist Information point in Plaza de Belluga. The tour is in Spanish but maps are provided and some leaflets are in English. It's a great way to take in the sights for future exploration and includes the Cathedral, the Palacio Episcopal, the Casino, Museums, colourful Plazas and lively streets.

Saturday 10th December– the Moon Bike season continues from Glorieta de España (in front of Murcia Town Hall) by the River Segura in the centre of Murcia. 7pm start and is between 10km and 15km and no steep climbs! Those without a bicycle can arrange to use one of the municipal bikes by calling 968 200 293 two days before the event.

Thursday 22nd December – at 8.30pm the Espacio Molinos del Río which houses the Murcia watermill museum, hosts a free concert River Sounds by Garaje Florida, the latest project by Antonio Mellado, Maestro Gado and Luiggi Garcíaque who presents 'Ser de Plutón'.

Saturday 4th December – Free 2 hour route - El Barroco Yeclano – when you can taste local dishes and visit la Basílica de la Purísima and learn of the history of Yecla - 10am from Tourist Office.
