Brian Robertson, Vice President of Mazarrón Bowls Club, fought his way through to the final of the Men's Singles Championship at the Spanish Nationals at the end of May!

In the Ladies' Singles competition of the Spanish Nationals, Nina McKenzie of Mazarrón Bowls Club reached the semi-finals before being narrowly beaten. This was an outstanding achievement for both players, having beaten some of the top players in Spain throughout the competition.

mazarron bowls Jim Coughan nationalsAn EGM was held at the end of May at which Jim Coughlan was appointed Club Captain for the next two years. Jim is an experienced player having played in Scotland for many years and MBC look forward to him leading the League teams to success in the forthcoming season. He brings to MBC his experience and new ideas which he looks forward to implementing, along with organising training sessions for both new and current members.

The 2017 President versus the Captain match was held in early June and this year was won comfortably by the Captain's team, much to the new Captain's delight!!
Summer arrived with a vengeance in early June which resulted in MBC changing to evening roll-ups on 20th June; this brought welcome relief to many of our players not having to play in the heat of the day.

The membership at MBC is continuing to grow, with new members, having read about our activities in the Costa Cálida Chronicle and now wishing to try this sport. Don't forget MBC always welcomes New Members; so come along on a Tuesday or Thursday evening for the roll-up sessions at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. You will be given a warm welcome and an opportunity to try the game.
