What an absolutely fabulous day had by all at the Roda golf course. The day was the annual Luz del Sol Challenge Cup.
Format for play this year was a variation on a waltz. Instead of a 123, we had a 1234 quickstep! It soon became clear we had a big number of Strictly Come Dancing fans amongst us, with echoes of "Keeeep Dancing" emanating from round the course.
It was a very competitive team format, with every fourth hole having all four team members' Stableford scores counting. This proved to be the turning point for one team, with all four players' returning good scores on every necessary hole.
The winning team superbly led by our very own 'Monarch of the Glen' recorded a magnificent score of 84 points. The team consisted of Neil MacFarlane, Bryan Lloyd, Dave Perry and David May. Well done lads!
We ran a NTP competition on all par 3's which as usual was contested extremely closely, but demonstrating their incredible accuracy were:-
On Hole No. 2 Harry Pearson
Hole No. 7 Alan Benton
Holes 11 & 13 Neil Mac
We were delighted to welcome some new members to our society which is dedicated to the enjoyment of golf alongside raising money for sick and needy children in our area. Last year we raised in excess of €5.5K and would like to thank all our wonderful sponsors for their support throughout the years.
As usual at the Roda complex, the course was in terrific condition and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their rounds. Our next competition in June is to be staged at the La Saurines course which always proves to be a challenge.
