July 2010
Hi there – Bob here again. This is my fourth report now and I think I’m just about getting the hang of it. If I’m not, let me know won’t you, but gently, please – I’m quite sensitive really. Can I start on a personal note? Many thanks to those who wished me a happy birthday on 6th June. I won’t say how old I was, but let’s just say I’m now an official Senior Citizen. It was Fran’s birthday too on the same day, but she does like to let everyone know that she’s a bit younger than me – can’t think why. Also thanks to those who wished our new grandson well, Jacob Michael, who arrived safely on 24th May.

The June General Meeting was held on the 5th, with Rosemary very ably assisted by Ann Wamsley, who told us of forthcoming events. Rosemary also announced a donation of 500€ to Contra Cancer in Murcia. The floor also agreed that Welcome should continue to sponsor MABS, for which those of us involved are extremely grateful. Thank you all very much. Details of a Trip to Sevilla next May were given by Rosemary and several people put their names down. The trip is for 4 nights B & B from 9th May 2011, returning on 13th. This includes time in Granada, a day out in Jerez, and a visit to Cordoba on the way home. The latest info is that two coaches have already been filled, but you can put your name on the waiting list as cancellations often happen.
Then came Ladies’ Day on June 9th. I wasn’t there, as the drag outfit I ordered on e-bay didn’t arrive in time and I’d have had to get a shave as well (just kidding). Still, no matter – Fran’s filled me in with the details, so here goes. A beautiful summer afternoon weatherwise.

The July Dance on 21st around the pool at Mariano’s is sold out. Appearing that night is the ever-popular big man with the big voice, Ricky Powell and one half of The Beagles, Martin Ross, plus disco.
The October Benidorm Trip is sold out, but if you are interested, you can put your name on the waiting list in case there’s a cancellation.
Fun Petanca is held at Mariano’s on the last Wednesday of each month, or the following Wednesday in case of bad weather. Further details can be obtained from Les on 968131880, or from Rosemary on 620105179.
