We certainly couldn’t have wished for a better venue for our Masked Summer Ball which was held at Santa Eulalia Hotel on the evening of Wednesday 24 June. The ball was attended by 158 people with 58 people making the most of it by pre-booking overnight accommodation. The setting is quite breathtaking and it was such a beautiful evening weather-wise. Guests certainly didn’t disappoint us with such fantastic decorative masks and the ladies in their beautiful evening wear and the men in tuxedos & suits looking very smart. We were delighted to welcome back Jay accompanied by Marina and Lucina from the Raquel Pena Ballet Español. It was really nice to see what Jay has accomplished since first seeing him dance for us 4 years ago. Our thanks must go to the Director and all his staff who worked so very hard on the night and in such a professional manner, especially Sue who certainly had the champagne reception organised for us this year. The food was superb with so many delicious courses and the drink flowed throughout with the meal, finishing with coffee & brandy before guests went outside on to the lower terrace to be entertained by the lovely Kinnie Lee. Thanks must also go to Terry for being our sound engineer for the evening and to Steve the Snip who provided magic moments during the evening. It was agreed by everyone at our July Meeting to continue to insure the MABS car for a second year enabling them to take patients for hospital visits. We will also continue to sponsor the MABS Helpline, which we feel is a small price to pay for a great organisation run by so many dedicated volunteers. We would also like to thank the two representatives who came along to our July Meeting to explain about the sponsored cycle ride which they are undertaking in September to raise money for MABS. We wish them all the very best.

The Fun Petanca will be at 7pm owing to the hot weather on Wednesday 29 July and 26 August, reverting back to 1pm from 30 September. There will be a Petanca Competition taking place on Wednesday 21 October, but it will be for Members only at a cost of 7€ to include food. Our next meeting will be a short one on Saturday 1 August at 2pm. Tickets will go on sale for 27 October Dance when we will be welcoming back the very popular and funny Jimmy Cricket, plus great dance music from Lucinda. Tickets 13€ or 18€ to include food. If you are unable to make the meeting, but wish to purchase tickets, please contact Rosemary on 620 105 179 after the meeting.
At time of going to press (15/7) we only have a few tickets for our Cabaret Night on 29 September. The 4 September Cabaret Night and October Benidorm Trip have sold out.
