Thanks to everyone that supported and helped at the Race Night held at the Salidillo Vista Bar on Wednesday 25 February enabling us to raise money for Contra Cancer (Murcia) who allow us to carry out a screening programme. A cheque for 1,000€ was presented to Jane Goss on behalf of the AECC (Contra Cancer, Murcia) at the Welcome Meeting on Saturday 7 March, which included a donation of 350€ from Keith Hebberd. Keith having recently lost his wife Pam had donations given instead of flowers at the funeral. Keith & his daughter Kim also presented a cheque for 317€ to the local MABS (Cancer Support Group) and explained that they still had some more money to come in that would also be donated to MABS at a later date.

Mariano's Restaurant on the evening of 11 March was invaded by 151 ladies at our first indoor Ladies' Evening. The evening consisted of free bingo & raffle, make-up demonstration, fashion show and other interesting topics and various items of interest to view. Thanks go to all the models who walked the catwalk, to the lady stallholders, the beauticians and to Legs & Co., for making it an enjoyable evening. From the comments we received afterwards it was obviously a good night out for 3€.

Our next meeting takes place on Saturday 4 April when tickets go on sale for the very popular Ladies' Day being held outside at Mariano's Restaurant, Camposol on Wednesday 3 June. The ticket price of 12€ includes an afternoon consisting of a Fashion Show, courtesy of Legs & Co., prize bingo, raffle, drinks (sangria, wine, orange juice, water), superb buffet supplied by Gill & Chris's Pantry and it wouldn't be the same without the outrageous Eddie Wallace. Eddie who is now back with plenty of work in the UK but is coming over to do our dance on 1 June and Ladies' Day, so we are excited about that. Not to be outdone, the men are having their shooting day, which this year will have a winner's and loser's competition. Ticket price will be 10€ with the option of a packed lunch for 5€ extra. At the time of going to press (15/3) there are only a few tickets left for 27 April Dance (Karen Noble & Showwaddwaddy Tribute) and tickets are now on sale for 1 June Dance with Eddie Wallace and introducing the first time in this area the delightful Maria O'Hara with Showgirl, (not to be missed). Tickets for both dances are 10€ with the option of a light supper, 5€ extra. The 5 April Treasure Hunt is now sold out.

With the credit crunch affecting most of us at the moment, we were quite overwhelmed by how many people wanted us to hold the Summer Ball again at the Monasteria de Santa Eulalia Hotel, Sierre Espuna. Many of the people started saving at the monthly meetings with the savings club, so have found that a great advantage. We are asking that everyone who has reserved a place will have paid at least 45€ by 4 April Meeting and the balance by 2 May Meeting to secure their booking. Tickets are now on general sale and are priced at 58€ which includes return transport, champagne reception, dancing demonstration by Jay Markwick and Dancers from the famous Raquel Pena School, drinks during meal (wine, soft drinks, beer & water), brandy with coffee and a superb meal consisting of many courses. The menu that has been chosen is the same as last year as it couldn't be faulted at all with so much glorious food. There will then be live music and dancing on the terrace with Kinnie Lee. All drinks included following the meal to the end of the evening. This year the theme will be a Masked Ball but obviously this is optional.

At the 4 April Meeting we will also be taking names of people interested in the popular 3-day Benidorm Trip which this year will be mid-October. All information given at the meeting.
