Although our February Dance was on the 12th not the 14th we still had a Valentine theme. Love was in the air with over 200 people receiving heart shaped chocolates on arrival and the room being decorated accordingly. Thank you to Cálida Card and Gift Shop for providing the balloons. The evening started off with the lovely voice of Christine who stepped in for us at the last minute. It is a long time since she has sung at a Welcome Dance but everybody agreed she has to come back soon. From her first song she had the dance floor full singing all our favourite dance tunes. Roy Hemmings was next on stage, having flown in from the U.K. the previous day; not only a fantastic singer, but one with a sense of humour as well. Throughout his performance he thoroughly entertained everybody. He took us back to the 60´s and 70´s singing all the old Drifters’ favourites and many others from the same era. He received a standing ovation at the end of the night and promised he would come back in the future.

It was agreed by everybody attending that all the money taken on the night in the raffle would be presented to MABS at the March meeting.

A big thank you to Steve who stepped in at the last minute to operate the sound for us and to run the disco. Everybody said he operated the sound system perfectly and agreed that from now on he could have the job at every Welcome Dance.

March Dance (10€) on Monday 22nd where we will be entertained by Eddie Wallace, Nick Gold and Maria O’Hara.

Treasure Hunt on Sunday April 18th (7€) including a fantastic buffet.

April Dance (9e) on Wednesday 21st bringing back Showaddywaddy Legends and the very funny comedian from the Costa Del Sol, Alan Wallace.

Tickets are also on sale for our Summer Ball to be held atThe Monasterio St Eulalia Hotel in the Espuna on Wednesday 23rd June (58€). The price includes return coach travel, champagne reception on arrival, a Flamenco Dance demonstration by the famous Raquel Penya dancers and a four course meal with drinks and also drinks included until 12.30pm. After the meal there will be dancing to Christine on the terrace. A lovely evening in a beautiful setting .

Fun Petanca will be held on the last Wednesday of the month 31st March at 1.00pm, or if it is raining the following Wednesday. 1€ for members, 2€ for non members. For more information ring Les on 968131880. This is held at Mariano’s Restaurant, Camposol.

Our next meeting is on Saturday 6th March at 2.00p.m. at Mariano’s Restaurant, Camposol, where tickets will go on sale for our dance on Wednesday May 19th (8€), when we will be entertained by Abba Elite, the best Abba tribute on the Costas and also bringing back Faith Reeves who everybody enjoyed so much last time.
